I work at a school and a lot of our students use braille senses. I just heard about one being fried in a most interesting way. Apparently the student inserted and removed the compact flash card about ten times quite quickly. This was apparently enough to overload and thus fry the main board of the unit. I've heard of frying units by using the wrong ac adapter and stuff like that, but never from rapidly inserting and removing a compact flash card. So, if you have a BrailleSense, I wouldn't advise inserting and removing that card to quickly!
I want one to try it with now.
Thanks Dude.
Thanks for the posts. I think this applies to all note takers that use compact flash cards. I've got a question though. Can a note taker get a virus from a website? I know computers can, but I wonder what's a virus's effect on a note taker.
It'd have to be a virus specificly made for a notetaker.
We are a very small fish in a very big pond.
So, the chances are probably a billion to 1 that'd you would get a virus for your notetaker.
Your chances for getting a virus on a packmate might be a bit higher because it is based on a standard operating system. However, I wouldn't waste any sleep over this one.

Thanks for the info bob. I was just thinking about that, and was just curious.
there is anti virus and firewall products for funny things these days, and aren't there anti virus product for moble phones now?
i can see how inserting and removing the flash card quickly would fry the unit, as the system has to mount the drive every time it's inserted and dismount it when it's removed. so rapid mount and dismount cycles would bust a unit i suppose.
